What CV Genius is
CV Genius is an online resume and cover letter builder for job seekers. You enter or import your experience, and the tool suggests achievement-oriented wording, recommends keywords for the target role, and flags missing fields. Layouts use a simple column structure, standard date formats and clear section names so that applicant tracking systems can parse them. There are dozens of templates across fields such as creative, tech, finance and marketing, with theme colors, fonts and spacing you can change, and a preview that updates as you type. A built-in cover letter editor drafts a letter from your resume and the job title and company you enter, in a matching style. Finished documents export to PDF or as a private online link. Work is saved to the cloud with version history, so you can edit across devices and keep earlier drafts. Basic features are free, with subscriptions unlocking more templates and unlimited AI rewriting.
What you can do with it
- Build a one-page resume from campus projects or internships.
- Rewrite duties into results-oriented statements with keyword hints.
- Generate a matching cover letter for a specific role.
- Export a PDF or share a private link for an application.
Who it is for
- New graduates with little formal work history.
- Professionals changing roles or industries.
- Applicants targeting jobs abroad or at foreign companies.
What to watch out for
AI wording is a starting point, not a substitute for accuracy: every figure, date and title you send to an employer has to be true, and loading a resume with keywords can read badly to a human recruiter. ATS compatibility helps, but no tool can promise an interview, and templates still need tailoring for each application. Free features cover the basics while advanced templates and unlimited rewriting sit behind a subscription, and pricing can change. Cloud storage means your employment history sits with a third party, so read the privacy terms before uploading a full CV with contact details.
